Many of the design for FMQ can be used with a walking foot if you go bigger. In this example we are using giant clamshells(the blocks are 4” finished.) You can use something like a salad plate or dinner dish to mark your quilt for quilting. Once you have your quilt marked you can quilt the clamshells in rows. Or you can do it the easier, less pivoting way, and quilt this in diagonal rows doing half a shell at a time like this:

It’s kind of like quilting a curved grid.

I really like this - would have never thought of it. I'm also liking the curves on top of very square blocks. Looks great. Thanks for the new ideas.
