Polka…

Thursday, September 20, 2012

… “dot” that is.
Welcome to my stop on the dots on dots blog hop. I’m glad you could stop by and visit. Apparently I LOVE dots in every color of the rainbow. Red dots, blue dots, pink dots, green dots, orange dots and yellow dots. BIG dots, little dots and in-between dots. Dots on bugs, dots on birds, dots on dots, dots with flowers and some without. No purple dots can be found (maybe I should write my own Dr. Seuss type book!)

I even have dots in cups:

…and cute polka dotted red bakers that I bought for no reason whatsoever other than the fact that they make me happy!

These are made by BIA Cordon Bleu and can be found in blue, green, red and yellow. You have
to do a Google search for them because they are hard to find. Sometimes Amazon has them.

For this blog hop I decided to finally make up a block that has been bouncing around in my head for quite some time. I drafted up my own version of a Drunkard’s Path block and made four 6.5” units that came together to form this fun 12.5” four patch dot:

I know it’s not horribly exciting but if you make this guy a few friends you can do something cool like this:Mod drunkard's path 3

These blocks are nice and big which lets you end up with a nice big 48”x48” baby or wall quilt. The blocks are nice and big for showcasing your favorite fabrics. You can also make a super graphic quilt using solids. It would also look fabulous with just 2 colors or prints.

I need to finish putting my rows together but you get the idea. I hope to have the pattern ready in the next week or two. Come back on Friday and I’ll show you how to piece those curves together. It’s really not that hard!

So how about a giveaway? I’ll give one lucky winner a copy of the pattern once I have it ready to go. I haven’t been able to come up with a name for this pattern so leave me a comment suggesting a name (if you have an idea.)Or maybe you can tell me something about quilting curves (have you tried it? does it scare you? did you like it? hate it?) Do so by Sunday the 23rd and I’ll announce a winner on Monday.  Don’t forget to visit everyone else on the dottie blog hop for today:

Kawaii Cupcake pattern

Wednesday, May 6, 2009
In honor of "Cupcake Week" going on at Lolly's I decided to share one of my own patterns form my stash. I drew up this little gal ages ago and she has been sitting patiently in the cupboard of my "c:" drive. So here she is along with her sisters in PDF format for you to download.

Feel free to use this little pattern for embroidery, applique, needlework, punch needle etc. Just remember that is is for your own personal use on items for yourself or to give away, but not on items for sale. Please do not redistribute my work and claim it as your own.

Add your own flair by adding, sprinkles, candles, changing up the eyes etc. Oh and don't forget to add your finished item over to the Petit Flickr pool!

My debut pattern!

Friday, February 6, 2009
Here it is! My debut pattern!
Originally this was going to be a quilt pattern (and it will become a quilt pattern!) The more I looked at it while working on the quilt pattern the more I thought this would make a really cute embroidery pattern. So as of today it has been listed in my Etsy Shop!
his is my debut embroidery pattern and I'm so excited to share it with you all!

This one is a 4 page PDF file that includes:
- Cover page with general instructions
- Full Color pattern guide
- Black and white pattern guide
- Reversed pattern

You can use this pattern for a variety of needlework applications such as: hand embroidery, quilting motif, free motion embroidery, punch needle, and applique.

This is not a step by step tutorial. It is a pattern only. I don't know if people will be turned off by that but there are so many free embroidery lessons on the internet that I felt it wasn't necessary to include step by step instructions. Plus I don't want to stifle anyone's creativity by dictating what stitches need to go where!

If you happen to purchase a pattern I would love to see your finished product so I set up a Flickr group just for sharing your completed projects at www.flickr.com/groups/petitdebutantpatterns

Driving Cap

Wednesday, October 15, 2008
I love the look of old fashioned driving caps on little boys and toddlers. Honestly I think they look good on just about any one. My son has one that he loves dearly. So I decided to make him another one. I scourged the internet for such a pattern and was unable to find any.

There are 2 or 3 out of print patterns by the some of the major pattern companies. If you are lucky to find one, you'll fork over about $14. So I decided to make my own pattern (which I am considering putting up for sale.) There are still a few things I need to tweak to make this work perfectly.

Here is my first prototype. Not to shabby, if I do say so myself!
